About Scheme
The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS) Internship Scheme, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, provides opportunities for school, college, and university students to familiarize themselves with and pursue research in various branches of Earth Sciences. The scheme allows students to participate in research projects, interact with eminent scientists, and engage in scientific exchange programs.
Details
NCESS, an R&D institution recognized for doctoral programs in science, environmental, and interdisciplinary topics, offers internships to students from 5-year Integrated M.Sc., M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech., M.Tech., and B.Sc. final year courses. Applications are accepted online twice a year (1st-29th February and 1st-30th September). Selected interns must complete a minimum of 8 weeks of continuous training. Certificates are issued upon successful completion. No financial stipend is provided by NCESS. Students must submit a printout of the application, attested by their HOD with official seal, at the time of joining.

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a student from a recognized university or institute.
- Eligible streams:
• 5-year Integrated M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech./M.Tech.: 7th–9th Semester
• 3-year M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech.: 3rd–5th Semester
• 2-year M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech./M.Tech.: 2nd–3rd Semester
• B.Sc. Final year students
- Candidates who were previously selected for training but did not join are not eligible.
- Students must undergo a minimum of 8 weeks of continuous training at NCESS.

- No financial aid or stipend will be provided by the Directorate.

Step 2: Application windows are open twice a year — from 1st to 29th February and from 1st to 30th September.
Step 3: Selected candidates must bring a printed and signed copy of their application, attested by the HOD with the official seal, at the time of joining.
