About Scheme

The “PM-YASASVI: Top Class School Education for OBC, EBC and DNT Students” is a sub-scheme under the umbrella scheme ‘PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (PM-YASASVI)’ launched by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. It aims to provide educational assistance to meritorious students from OBC, EBC, and DNT communities studying in Top Class Schools (TCSs) identified under the scheme.

Details

This is a Central Sector Scheme funded 100% by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and implemented with the help of State Governments and the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Eligibility

All OBC, EBC, and DNT students studying in Top Class Schools identified under the scheme are eligible, provided their household annual income is less than ₹2.5 lakh. Students must be studying in Class 9 to Class 12. They must also have a valid bank account and Aadhaar number, and their school should support Aadhaar-based attendance integration if required. Beneficiaries cannot avail of similar benefits under any other government scheme for the same purpose.

Benefits

The scholarship covers tuition fees, hostel fees, and other school charges up to ₹75,000 per annum per student for Classes 9 and 10 and ₹1,25,000 per annum per student for Classes 11 and 12. Funds are released directly into the students’ bank accounts via DBT mode in installments before 15th August every year. At least 30% of scholarships are reserved for girl students.

Application Process

Online Mode:
1. Visit the National Scholarship Portal at https://scholarships.gov.in.
2. For new applicants, click “New Registration” and follow the instructions.
3. Provide required details, complete registration, and generate an Application ID.
4. For registered applicants, log in and select “Fresh Application”.
5. Choose the PM-YASASVI: Top Class School Education scheme, fill in details, upload necessary documents, and submit the form.
Selection Process:
Applications are verified by Nodal Officers of the schools and confirmed by the respective State Governments online. A State-wise merit list for each class (separately for boys and girls) is prepared based on marks from the previous class.
