About Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to provide LPG connections to rural and deprived households, replacing traditional cooking fuels like firewood, coal, and cow-dung cakes, which are harmful to health and environment.
Details
Under PMUY, eligible households receive financial assistance for LPG connections including a free stove and first refill. PMUY 2.0 targets an additional 1 Crore connections, prioritizing migrant families and states with low LPG coverage. The scheme has helped increase LPG coverage from 62% in 2016 to 99.8% in 2021.

Eligibility
Adult women from poor households without an LPG connection. Eligible categories include SECC 2011 list, SC/ST households, PMAY beneficiaries, AAY, Forest dwellers, Most Backward Classes, Tea/Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, river island residents, and migrant households with prescribed declaration.
Benefits
Financial assistance includes Rs. 1,600 for a 14.2kg cylinder or Rs. 1,150 for a 5kg cylinder, free LPG stove, and first refill. Scheme ensures access to clean cooking fuel, improving health and reducing reliance on traditional fuels.
Application Process
Online: Visit https://www.pmuy.gov.in/index.aspx, select oil company, connection type, state, district, distributor, enter mobile and OTP, select migrant family status, fill family/personal/bank details, upload required documents, submit form, generate reference number, and visit gas agency to complete connection process.
