The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar (RVP) is one of the highest recognitions in the field of science, technology, and innovation in India. It honors scientists, technologists, and innovators for their exceptional and inspiring contributions in advancing science and technology for societal and national development.

Details

The awards are categorized into Vigyan Ratna (VR) for lifetime achievements, Vigyan Shri (VS) for distinguished contributions, Vigyan Yuva – Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB) for young scientists, and Vigyan Team (VT) for outstanding team-based contributions. The awards are announced annually on National Technology Day (11th May) and conferred on National Space Day (23rd August) by the Hon’ble President or Vice President of India at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Eligibility

All scientists, technologists, and innovators working in any field of science, whether in government, private, or independent capacity, are eligible.
Indian-origin scientists abroad who have made significant contributions benefiting Indian communities or society are also eligible.
The awards cover 13 scientific domains: Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Mathematics & Computer Science, Earth Science, Medicine, Engineering Sciences, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Technology & Innovation, Atomic Energy, Space Science & Technology, and Others.

Benefits

Awardees receive a Sanad (certificate) signed by the President of India and a medallion.
A commemorative brochure with citation and photograph is also released.
In posthumous cases, the next of kin receives the award.
The awards serve as a national honor recognizing and encouraging excellence in science and innovation.

Application Process

Online Application Process:
Registration:
1. Visit the official Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar portal https://awards.gov.in/ .
2. Click on “Registration”.
3. Choose type: Individual or Organization.
4. For Individual – enter Name (as per Aadhaar), Date of Birth, Nominator Type, Mobile Number, Email ID, and Aadhaar Number.
5. For Organization – provide Organization Type, Authorized Person’s details, brief description, Designation, Mobile, Email, and Aadhaar.
6. Submit to generate login credentials.

Application / Nomination:
1. Login using credentials.
2. From the awards list, select “Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar”.
3. Click “Nominate / Apply Now”.
4. Fill all required fields, upload documents, and submit.

Award Selection:
Applications are reviewed and shortlisted based on merit and contribution to science, technology, or innovation.
