About Scheme
The Zero Ticket Bus Travel Scheme for Women is an initiative by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment. It allows women passengers to travel free of cost in government-run normal-fare buses for short distances up to 30 kilometers within cities and towns across the state.

Around 44% of users have educational qualifications below the fifth grade, indicating the program’s reach among lower-income and less-educated women.
Eligibility
Only women are eligible. Applicants must be permanent residents of Tamil Nadu. Travel limit under this scheme is 30 kilometers per journey.

Application Process

Documents Required
Any one of the following identity documents can be shown to the bus conductor while traveling: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, School or College ID, Employee ID, or any other photo ID.
